Slide Show tab in PowerPoint

Slide Show tab in PowerPoint- Click Slide Show tab in PowerPoint which will show buttons that are related to items. In this tab you can you view, take up the full computer screen like an actual presentation. For example you can see how your graphics animated effects will look during the presentation.

To access Slide Show, select the Slide Show tab. The purpose of the Slide Show tab is for the presenter to have an easy access to the full screen presentation mode as well as Rehearse Timings and Record Slide Show.

Research Timing can be a very useful tool that allows you to set up your presentation to play at a certain speed without having to click through the slide yourself. Also this allows you to practice your talking points. This feature allows you to save timings for each slide and transition and will start the PowerPoint automatically.

Once you have Rehearse Timings selected under the Slide Show Ribbon the timing will immediately begin. To stop the timing simply click the pause button located at the top left. To save this timing click the next arrow button located below the slide preview. Then a box will pop up asking if you would like to save the time. Click yes.

Record Slide Show is very similar to the Rehearse Timing. The only primary difference is that you can have the option to start recording at any given slide, rather than the beginning.

This tab has three groups:

  1. Start Slide Show Group
  2. Set Up Group
  3. Monitors Group

Start Slide Show Group

This group has the options to run slide show from the beginning or from a selected slide.

Start Slide Show Group
From Beginning (F5)

This option starts the slide show from the first slide of the presentation. The presentation will appear in full screen mode.

From Current Slide (Shift+F5)

This option starts the slide show from the active slide.

Present Online 

Present Online provides option to select a sevice to present the slide show online.

Custom Slide Show

This option shows only the slides you choose. Just pick the slides you want to use, add them to the new show, change the slide order, if necessary and you are done.

This is a great way to shorten your presentation or tailor it for different audiences.

Set Up Group

This group has an advanced option for slide show. Record narration for your slide show.

This command set up advanced options for the slide show, such as kiosk mode.

To set a slide show option, do this:

  1. Click Slide Show tab, in the Set Up group, choose Set Up Slide Show Icon. The Set Up Slide Show dialog box appears.
  2. This dialog box has the following sections:
  • Show type : In this section, user choose the type of slide show.
  • Show options : In this section, it is specified that the extra elements will display or not. There are three option in this part, user can choose any one of them.
  • Show Slides : In this section, user enters the first and last slide number of presentation.
  • Advance Slides : In this section, it is chosen that the slide show will be manual or automatic.
  • Performance : If user want to set hardware graphics acceleration, this section is used.
Hide Slide 

You may like to use a presentation for different category of audience. Therefore, you may need to hide a slide or more slides to meet the needs of the specific viewers.

To hide slides during the slide show, do this:

  1. Select the slides in Slides Sorter view.
  2. Choose Hide Slide from the Slide Show tab.
Rehearse Timings

If you do not want to move through a slide manually, you can use the rehearsal features where you can record timing automatically as you rehearse. You can also adjust the timing you have already set and then rehearse the new ones.

Record Slide Show

Click here to choose where to start recording or to clear recorded timings and narrations. By using this option, you can start recording from beginning or from current slide.

Play Narrations

Using Play Narrations command play backs audio narrations laser pointer gestures during your slide show. You can record narrations and gestures by clicking Record Slide Show.

Use Timings

Using Timings command you can play back slide and animation timings during your slide show. You can record slide and animation timings using Rehearse Timings or Record Slide Show.

Show Media Controls

This command shows the controls for playing audio and video clips when you hover over the clips during the slide show.

Monitors Group 

This group has commands that allows you to select a green resolution or a presenter view.

This option lets PowerPoint automatically choose which monitor displays your slide show, or pick one yourself.

Use Presenter View 

By using two monitors you can run your PowerPoint presentation from one monitor while your audience views it on the second monitor. Presenter view offers the following tools to make it easier for you to present information.

  • You can use thumbnails to select slides out of sequence and create a customized presentation for your audience.
  • Preview text shows you what your next click will add to the screen, such as a new slide or the next bullet in a list.
  • Speakers notes are shown in large clear type so that you can use them as a script for your presentation.
