Computer And It’s Functions:-A computer is an electronic device that manipulates information or data according to the set of instruction called programs.
It has the ability to store, retrieve and process data.
The terms ‘computer‘ is used to type a document send emails and browse the internet it is also used to handle accounting database management presentations games and so on the term computer is derived from the Latin word computer which means to calculate.
But today it’s definition has changed because now the use of computer is not limited to calculations today it is used for music graphics Internet is also happening in many other areas so now we can say that it is an electronic device that accepts data and after a white step by step processing it changes into information and present the output result it except stores and manipulate data according to our need
What is Computer?
A computer is an electronic machine that accept that from the user processes the data by performing calculations and operations on it and generates the desired output as a result.
Charles Babbage is also called the father of computer generally computer is the combination of hardware and software which converts data into information.
Some terms used in computer terminology are described below:
Processing:- It is the sequence of actions taken on data to convert it into information.
Information:- When data is processor organised structured or presented in a given context so as to be useful than it is called information.
Instruction:- It is a command given to a computer in the computer language by the user.
Program:- It is a set of instructions given to a computer in order to perform some operations.
Functions of Computer
Computer performs on basic functions which are as follows .
Input:- Information or data that is entered into a computer is called input it sends data and instructions to the central processing unit( CPU).
Processing:- It is the sequence of actions taken on data to convert it into Informations which is meaningful to the user it can be calculations comparisons or decisions taken by the computer.
Output:- It makes process to data available to the user it is mainly used to display the desire result to the user as per input instructions.
Storage:- It stores data and programs permanently it is used to store information during the time of program execution and possible to get any type of information from it.
A “computer” is a collection of different devices that you will be using to get your job done a computer is premierly made up of:-
- The central processing unit
- The keyboard
- The monitor
- The mouse
To use the computer you must first turn it on the computer works by receiving an executing instructions these instruction cause the computer to start giving its own instructions to internal parts one of the set of instruction is called BIOS.
How to start a Computer?
Here we will see and learn starting a computer system in some simple steps as follow:-
Connect the cables :– Connect the power cable with the power socket at the rear panel of the computer system to supply power to the computer to get start the basic peripheral devices required to work on computer must be connected with their ports like mouse keyboard and monitor etc.
Supply the power:– Supply the power/electricity to the computer system connected to an electricity board through an UPS.
Press power button :- This is the switch button which does start the computer after being processd wait for the computer to boot up.
In showing a logo starting windows will appear-this is the initial boot up screen after the booting process one screen will appear which is known as desktop now you can perform any type of work like creating any folder or opening any application or file on a computer.
